Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky appointed the commander of the Ground Forces, Colonel General Alexander Syrsky, as the new commander-in-chief of the armed forces. He replaced Valery Zaluzhny. It should be noted that Zaluzhny has been performing this duty since March 2022. According to some experts, Ukraine is already losing badly at the front. At the same time, it is considered necessary to take new strategic steps in the army.
Against the backdrop of these constructive changes, there was a change in the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army. Could this change the course of the war?
In a statement to Ednews, Ukrainian military analyst Vadim Tryukhan praised this decision very well and even said that Zaluzhny is very likely to become president:
“During a war, somehow discussing the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief is an unnecessary thing. Therefore, the decision has been made. Some people like it, some people don’t like it, but it will be carried out.
Therefore the situation looks like this:
President Zelensky decided to try to change, to introduce some new blood, to bring fresh blood into the army. Well, he made a decision. The future for Luzhny looks unclear at the moment. Most likely, he can repeat the fate of de Gaulle and Eisenhower, and other military leaders who, due to the difficulties of the internal political situation in their countries or due to their ambitions, became presidents and carried out certain reforms in their countries. However, this requires his personal decision. As of now, there is no such solution. But in Ukraine, there is no understanding of when the next elections will be. It seems to me that there are quite a large number of people who are interested in Luzhny going into politics. But, in my opinion, he will be able to go into politics only after it is clear how the internal political situation in Ukraine will develop. First of all, taking into account what will happen at the front. As soon as elections are announced, then it will be determined. But the fact that people will ask him to run for the post of President of Ukraine is virtually beyond doubt.”
