The names of twice Hero of the Soviet Union Hazi Aslanov, Heroes of the Soviet Union Israfil Mammadov, Aslan Vezirov, Adil Guliyev, Ziya Bunyadov, Garay Asadov, Melik Maharramov, Mehdi Huseynzade and generals Mahmud Abilov, Akim Abbasov, Tarlan Aliyarbeyov, Hajibaba Zeynalov and many of others have been written in our people's history with golden letters for their bravery.
During the war, huge work was done to direct the economy to serve the front. In a short time, Baku became an essential arsenal of fighting the army. Despite all the difficulties, oil workers showed heroism and sacrifice and provided the front and the industry with fuel. Under the leadership of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev, new technology for producing aviation petrol was established. Oil workers achieved a record indicator in Azerbaijan's oil production through hard work, producing 23.5 million tons of oil in 1941, which made 71.4 percent of all the oil produced in the USSR. The Azerbaijani oil workers produced 75 million tons of oil, 22 million tons of gasoline, and other oil products in total. Baku oil was one of the main factors in the victory over fascism. It would be enough to say that four of every five aircraft, four of every five tanks, four of every five cars worked with Baku fuel.
On May 2 of this year, President Ilham Aliyev issued an order to provide one-time financial assistance to people who participated in the Second World War in 1941-1945, widows of soldiers who were killed or later died, and those who were awarded orders and medals for selfless work in the rear in 1941-1945.
The head of state ordered to provide one-time financial assistance in the amount of 2,000 manats to participants of the Second World War of 1941-1945, 1,000 manats to the widows of those who died in the Second World War or subsequently died, persons awarded with orders and medals for selfless work in rear at that time, employees of special formations who carried out assignments in the interests of the army and navy in the rear of the fighting fronts or in the operational zones of the fighting fleets, persons awarded the corresponding medal and badge for the defense of the city of Leningrad during the Second World War, as well as participants in the siege of the city Leningrad.
In order to implement the order, 3 million manats will be allocated from the reserve fund of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan provided for in the state budget for 2024.
Thus, the presidential order will cover about 3 people.
The victory over fascism in Azerbaijan is celebrated as an official state holiday.
