Armenia is ready to re-esstablish diplomatic relations with Turkey without any preconditions, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a recent interview with Corriere della Sera, Eurasia Diary reports citing Armenian website Tert.am.
“We have said and I reiterate that we are ready to re-esstablish diplomatic relations with Turkey without any preconditions. The international recognition of the (so-called) Armenian Genocide is not a precondition when it comes to re-establishing the diplomatic relations with Turkey. That recognition is a very important process, which is necessary not just for our relations with them but, as I have already mentioned, for the global prevention of genocides,” ARMENPRESS quotes him as telling the leadling Italian newspaper.
"Turkey is still perceived by Armenians as a possible security threat. The border with Turkey has been is close for nearly 30 years upon their own initiative - not ours. It is open from the Armenian side”, the prime minister said.
