Russian journalist and blogger Alexei Romanov posted an interview on his YouTube channel with Armenian activist Georgi Vanyan, who was called an "exiled peacekeeper."
Eurasia Diary reports that, in an interview, G.Vanyan said that he had sent a series of open letters to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. In the letter, he considered what happened not a war, but a massacre, and he stressed that direct talks should be held with Azerbaijan. "Armenia has and can have only one ally - it is Azerbaijan," Georgi said.
Georgi noted that Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent territories should have been retunrned to Azerbaijan. Thus, those who ruled Armenia for 30 years "de jure" recognized the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and deceived the Armenian citizens. According to him, in his speech on November 10, N. Pashinyan also admitted that Armenia could not get out of this situation.
Vanyan has been a human rights activist and peacekeeper since the 1990s and lived in Germany for a year as a political asylum. He currently lives in a village on the Armenian side of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. He is the only person in Armenia who officially appealed to N. Pashinyan to stop the war. He was persecuted for his Facebook posts and punished
"People in Armenia believed that revolution happened in their country. However, nothing has changed regarding the priority issue of the Karabakh conflict. The revolution in Armenia happened in 1988. The Armenian Communist Party handed over power to the Karabakh Committee. To date, there is only one-party system in Armenia and the country is still under the ruling Karabakh Committee. Armenia is a kind of barracks and there can be no revolution in the barracks," Vanyan said.
"Azerbaijan had won a diplomatic and economic victory before the current war. However, as a result of the war, Azerbaijan was defeated like Armenia. Everything is still ahead. Thanks to the statement, at least the massacre was prevented," he added.
Vanyan believed that Azerbaijan would have won if it had fought to the end and entered Stepanakert.
"The plan in advance was to keep Nagorno-Karabakh in fight and to continue the war. It is unknown at this time how long the guerrilla-terrorist war will last. Therefore, N. Pashinyan had to go to Baku on September 27," he stressed.
According to Armenian peace activist, there is euphoria in Azerbaijan, as Armenia did in the first war.
"In that victory, we lost the sovereignty of Armenia. All decisions are made in the Kremlin, not in Armenia. Protesters are listening to what Putin or Solovyov has to say. The main party in this war is Russia. We are not North Ossetia, even that is more independent. We are South Ossetia. Armenia does not exist, and Russia wants to bring Azerbaijan to its knees over Armenia. In this case, the end of both countries will come, " Georgi Vanyan said.
