Moscow’s Khimki Court has placed Russian opposition figure Alexey Navalny under arrest until February 15, defense attorney Vadim Kobzev told, Eurasia Diary reports citing TASS.
"The Khimki Court ruled that Navalny is under arrest until February 15," the attorney noted.
Earlier, the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service reported that Navalny was detained in Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport upon his arrival in Russia from Germany. He was detained for repeatedly violating conditions of his probation period imposed as part of the suspended sentence. He was placed on the wanted list on December 29, 2020. The service underlined that he would be in custody until the court’s decision. The hearing is scheduled for January 29 to determine whether to change his suspended sentence for prison time.
