"Armenian forces purposefully launched missile strikes on civilian people in Ganja," said head of press service department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan Leyla Abdullayeva at the event dedicated to the 2nd anniversary of attacks on Ganja during the 44-day war in Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), Ednews reports. .
She said that Ganja is a city far away from the frontline: "These attacks were committed at night, the purpose is clear. The fact that there is not a single military facility around proves once again that the goal was to destroy civilians. Shortly after the humanitarian ceasefire was established at the meeting in Moscow, Armenia violated this ceasefire and attacked in several directions, Azerbaijani medical personnel were attacked in Sugovushan while collecting the bodies of Armenian servicemen, and Ganja was targeted. All these a violation of international humanitarian law, fundamental principles, and Geneva Protocols by Armenia.”
According to L. Abdullayeva, MFA took awareness measures in this direction, and proofs were gathered and sent to international organizations: "Petitions regarding military crimes have been filed in the European Court and the International Court of Justice. These cases are still being reviewed.
Azerbaijan will use all opportunities to make the culprits answer to justice and law. Unfortunately, even a single person of those, who committed military crimes, has not been brought to responsibility by Armenia so far. We call on the international community to put pressure on Armenia for bringing those, who committed military crimes and crimes against humanity to responsibility."
