On December 20, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Khojavand region, Ednews reports.
The head of state and the first lady visited the district's Girmizi Bazar settlement.
The settlement was occupied by the Armenian armed forces in 1992. On September 19-20 of this year, as a result of the anti-terrorist measures carried out by the Azerbaijani Army in Karabakh, the Red Bazar settlement was cleared of separatists.
Note that Girmizi Bazar is one of the two settlements of the Khojavend district and is located in a very favorable strategic position, at the intersection of important roads. Girmizi Bazar was given the status of a settlement in 1947. The territory of the settlement is rich in natural resources, forest belts, and freshwater resources. Before the occupation, two Eastern plane trees with trunk diameter of 600 centimeters, height of 25 meters, and one thousand and two thousand years old were protected as ancient natural monuments in the settlement. The settlement also has agricultural and tourism potential.
