The International Eurasia Press Fund (İEPF) issued a statement regarding the violence in the Gaza Strip.
Ednews presents the text of the said statement:
It is indeed regrettable that the root of the ongoing conflicts in different regions of the world lies in artificial sources originating from the interests of big states and great powers. Keeping conflict areas as hot spots has always been part of their policies. As a result, the process that occur are directly the most serious threat to people's lives and their safety.
Since October 7, 2023, the number of casualties on both sides has been increasing dramatically as a result of the incidents in the Gaza Strip. In particular, the fact that the victims of this conflict are civilians makes the situation even more sensitive.
The tension in the region, which has been going on for more than half a century, is perhaps experiencing its most intense and noisy period. As a result of the events between Israel and Palestine during the last 4 days, it has been confirmed that more than 2,000 civilians have lost their lives.
The International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) strongly condemns the clashes and tension in the Gaza Strip and does not justify it in any way. IEPF believes in the importance of progressing relations through negotiations, with peace as the basis. War, terrorist activities, and especially innocent people becoming victims of war and politics are unacceptable. This directly contradicts human rights, international legal norms and principles, and means that in generally the region remains under threat. Now is the time to show the courage and commitment needed to pave the way for reconciliation, coexistence and a brighter future for the people living in the region. We must not let the mistakes of the past define our future.
As an international organization, IEPF joins the calls for an early cessation of hostilities and the release of hostages and reiterates that sustainable peace is the key solution and future guarantee for the entire region. We call on international organizations and intergovernmental groups to support the resolution of the issue in order to prevent war and violence, ensure the safety and rights of civilians. The world should not remain silent to these processes and should not spare its urgent efforts for the future of humanity.
