In a significant development, the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) has announced its active participation in the upcoming presidential elections, scheduled for February 7, 2024, Ednews reports.
A decision to this effect was made during the first meeting of the Board of Trustees of IEPF in 2024.
During the meeting, the Board reviewed the report from the previous year and deliberated on the action plan for the current year. In a unanimous decision, it was agreed that IEPF would be represented by a 50-member observer team for the imminent snap presidential elections.
IEPF, known for its active involvement in shaping election coalitions in 2008 and 2013, has been chosen for its proactive engagement in various elections over the years. The observer team, comprising individuals with extensive election experience, aims to contribute objectively and operationally to the crucial elections ahead.
Preparations for the deployment of the observer team include comprehensive training sessions conducted by a professional election technologist for all 50 members. The organization plans to organize events and educational meetings leading up to the election day to inform the public about the preparation process and provide important updates.
President Umud Mirzayev, speaking at the Guardianship Council meeting, emphasized that the observation activity on election day would be coordinated centrally. The organization intends to regularly share objective information and compile a final report on the election.
IEPF's monitoring mission will span 25 districts, encompassing 18 different cities. Besides the capital city Baku, the organization will focus on major cities such as Khankandi, Shusha, Aghdam, Fuzuli, Zangilan, Jabrayil, Tartar, Barda, Goranboy, Naftalan, Ganja, Samukh, Beylagan, Kurdemir, Hajigabul, Khirdalan, and Sumgait.
