COP29 will be held at Baku Olympic Stadium, said Narmin Jarchalova, chairman of the Board of Directors of the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company and the Chief Operations Officer for COP29 Azerbaijan during her speech at the first press conference of the COP29 Presidency, Ednews reports.

She recalled that Azerbaijan country has hosted various international events:

“However, COP29 will be the largest event to be hosted by Azerbaijan for the number of participants and its scale. Baku Olympic Stadium was chosen as the venue for the event. This decision was made in consultation with the UN (UNFCCC) and taking into account the experience of previous COP events. The effective use and sustainability of the infrastructure has been fully ensured in the large-scale events held in this space so far.”

According to her, in order to ensure that the Blue and Green zones which will be organized during COP29 are compactly located on the stadium territory and to minimize the possible negative impact on the environment, the plan of the area is being prepared in coordination with the UN organization team.

“Additional structures will be installed around the stadium to organize all plenary sessions of the conference in one place,” – she noted.
