Journalists from Uzbekistan embarked on a significant visit to the headquarters of the International Eurasia Press Fund on April 24.
According to Ednews, the President of IEPF, Umud Mirzayev, warmly received the guests, providing them with a comprehensive overview of the organization's history, its ongoing initiatives, and the fundamental mission driving its activities.
Among the distinguished attendees were Kholmurad Salimov, Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan; Husan Ermatov, esteemed editor-in-chief of "Trest" and "Doverie" newspapers; Shohrat Oripov, leading the Council of Young Journalists under the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan; Feroza Odilova, editor-in-chief of "Tong Yuzteri" newspaper; Aziza Halimova, representing the State of Uzbekistan; and the editor of the International news editorial office of the Information Agency. Together, they emphasized the urgent need to fortify media collaborations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, underscoring the enduring historical ties and longstanding cooperation between the two nations.
The sincere atmosphere of the meeting was enhanced by the gracious gesture of the Uzbek guests, who presented traditional Uzbek rice pilaf. Notably, Husan Ermatov, renowned for his culinary skills, took charge of preparing the pilaf, a task traditionally entrusted to men during ceremonial occasions in Uzbekistan. The aromatic flavors of Uzbek pilaf delighted both guests and employees of the foundation as they savored this culinary delight.
During his address, President U. Mirzayev shed light on the organization's vision and its historical significance, recounting his experiences during the 90s, particularly amidst the Armenian aggression in Karabakh. He emphasized the paramount importance of collaborative efforts between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, particularly within the realm of media.
Hajibey Heydarli, a distinguished member of the Board of Directors of the Press Council and editor-in-chief of "Azxeber.com" website, graced the meeting with his presence. In his remarks, he underscored the burgeoning media relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, highlighting the deep-rooted friendship shared by both nations.
The meeting also provided a platform to reflect on the shared history, cultural heritage, and mutual traditions that bind Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. It is noteworthy that this visit follows the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Press Council and the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan on April 22, marking a significant step forward in fostering stronger ties between the two nations' media sectors.
