Qarabag FK is reportedly looking to sign Sambou Soumano, a striker from the French club FC Lorient.
According to EDnews, negotiations between the two sides are currently in an intensive phase. The transfer is expected to be finalized within the next 1–2 days, as Qarabağ must submit its official squad list to UEFA for the Champions League by September 2.
Football insider Rudy Galetti reported on his X (formerly Twitter) page that the Azerbaijani champions have offered €2.5 million plus €500,000 in bonuses for the 24-year-old Senegalese forward. This offer reportedly surpasses those made by all other clubs interested in the player.
Today and tomorrow are said to be key days in determining the outcome of the transfer.
According to exclusive information obtained by QOL.az, Soumano is personally interested in joining Qarabağ due to the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League. However, a final agreement with Lorient has not yet been reached. Sources also indicate that if the move goes through, Soumano’s annual salary will exceed €1 million making him the most expensive signing in Qarabağ’s history.
Last season, Soumano scored 14 goals and provided 3 assists in 32 matches for Lorient, who were champions of Ligue 2. This season, he has already scored 1 goal in 2 appearances in Ligue 1.
