Mrs. May was scheduled to hold an emergency cabinet meeting on Monday.
According to Express, government ministers were ordered to “Clear their diaries” for a meeting to “approve the deal” meeting on Friday, which was then put back to Monday
But the Prime Minister was forced to cancel the meeting after she was met with resistance from members of her cabinet and Brussels, over her attempted plans to free the UK from being locked into the EU Customs Union.
Resistance to Mrs. May from critics at home and abroad over the so-called customs backstop and fishing rights means a new deal may not be ready by Tuesday.
A Government source claimed the infighting could derail the Prime Minister’s tight schedule for working out a deal, ahead of a special EU summit in November.
The source told the Independent: “There is not going to be one tomorrow.
“The cabinet will meet as normal on Tuesday, but I can’t say if it going to be a Brexit cabinet or not, because the negotiations are ongoing.
“The fact is that we have got to get something that’s right. We are not going to accept an outline deal at all costs and we are still working on it.”
If an outline was not ready by Tuesday, the UK would look to ramp up an expensive no-deal contingency plan.
The government would also be in danger of being unable to pass necessary legislation required before the official deadline of March 29, 2019.
Last week, cabinet ministers including Andrea Leadsom insisted on new powers for the Government to escape being bound by the customs union.
The Brexiteer sent a warning to Brussels as she vowed the UK "cannot be held against its will" in a customs union arrangement with the EU.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Radio 5's John Pienaar Mrs. Leadsom said: “It cannot be a decision that can be overturned by the European Union.
"It must be capable for the United Kingdom to decide to leave that customs arrangement and it cannot be something the European Union can then hold us to.
"Frankly, it's because that would be to then fail to fulfill on the will of the people expressed at the referendum and I very much doubt we'd get it through Parliament."
