Issuance of biometric passports will begin since 1 January 2021 in Kyrgyzstan, State Registration Service Chairman Almaz Mambetov told reporters today in Bishkek, Eurasia Diary reports citing AKIpress.
The biometric passport trial concluded, he said.
Mambetov did not elaborate on the details of the tender and with what companies the talks are held now.
It became known earlier that Kyrgyzstan may be added to the group of nations of travel restrictions by the United States.
Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov said the presidential order was issued in 2017 in the United States, according to which the nations having no biometric passports will face travel restrictions since 2020.
