The European Union and the United Kingdom have jointly decided to strengthen collaboration on migration-related issues, according to a statement released on Tuesday by the office of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, EDnews informs via Euronews.
"UK and EU teams will now discuss the details and operationalization of this new working arrangement," the statement noted, referring to the future cooperation between the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) and British agencies. The arrangement was announced after Sunak met with European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen at the Council of Europe summit in Iceland.
Speaking to reporters earlier today, Von der Leyen thanked Iceland for putting efforts to hold Russia accountable for its invasion of Ukraine, as well as for leading the fight against climate change.
