A 6.0-magnitude earthquake was recorded in the South Pacific Ocean off the coast of Tonga, according to data provided by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), Ednews reports.
The epicenter of the quake was some 257 kilometers south of the nation's capital of Nuku'alofa, a city at the northern end of the island. The tremor struck at a depth of about 35 kilometers.
The quake is the second to hit the island nation in the past 24 hours, following a 5.9-magnitude tremor, which shook the region late last night.
