British government imposed sanctions against Abdel Karim Mahmoud Ibrahim, the Chief of the General Staff of the Syrian Army and Armed Forces and Ali Mahmoud Abbas, the Syrian Minister of Defence, Ednews reports citing official website of UK Government.
It is noted that the Chief of the General Staff of the Syrian Army has been involved in the repression of the Syrian population through commanding military forces where there has been systematic use of forms of sexual and gender-based violence.
Ali Mahmoud Abbas was also included in the list of sanctions on a similar basis.
According to the source, the individuals sanctioned today are subject to an asset freeze and travel ban.
