The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Sunday expressed its support for Russia in maintaining state stability after a group of private military contractors launched an armed rebellion against the country, Ednews reports.
The ministry described the matter as an internal affair of Russia and emphasized that as a "friendly neighbor and partner" in comprehensive strategic cooperation, China stands behind Moscow's efforts to safeguard "state stability" and achieve "development and prosperity."
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko spoke over the phone on Sunday with Russian President Vladimir Putin and former President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, BelTA news agency reported, citing the Belarusian presidential press service.
The conversation with Putin took place in the morning, while the discussion with Nazarbayev occurred in the afternoon.
The topics covered in the discussions with Putin were not released to the public, but their conversation came after the two, on Saturday, talked about Lukashenko's negotiations with Wagner Group head Yevgeny Prigozhin.
