Washington is close to giving a green light for its long-range missiles to be delivered to Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday citing the United States and European officials with knowledge on the matter.
The Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMS, which covers a range of approximately 190 miles, would help Ukraine hit Russian targets far away from the front lines.
According to the officials, the matter is waiting for approval at the highest levels, as the White House, which has so far been against the idea, is now thinking now might be the time to boost the strength of Ukrainian forces, following the turmoil inside Russian borders. The WSJ was told by a senior Ukrainian official that the country has received positive signs from the US on long-range weapons in the last few weeks.
