We welcome the progress achieved in the negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia held in Washington, Maria Zakharova, the Spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told a briefing on Thursday, Ednews informs.
She said that Russia is in contact with Armenia and Azerbaijan to reduce tensions in the region: “We are trying to contribute to the process both at the political level and through peacekeepers.”
According to Zakharova, a lot depends on the parties themselves: “We are taking all necessary steps on our part.”
