Attorney John Lauro, representing former President Donald J. Trump in the case over the results of the 2020 election and the January 6 incidents, said Wednesday that they want the trial to be held after the 2024 election.
In an interview with NBC, the lawyer called it "absurd" that DOJ special counsel Jack Smith wanted to see a "speedy trial" for Trump. "He had three and a half years. Why don't we make it equal?" Lautaro said while commenting on Smith's remarks.
"The bottom line is that they have 60 federal agents working on this, 60 lawyers, all kinds of government personnel, and we get this indictment, and they want to go to trial in 90 days. Does that sound like justice to you?" he asked.
