The consulate general of Saudi Arabia restarted its operations in Mashhad, Iran's northeastern city, Tasnim News Agency reported on Sunday.
Diplomatic relations between the two nations were cut off in January 2016 after the Saudi Embassy in Tehran and consulate in Mashhad were stormed by mobs in response to the execution of a Saudi Shia cleric Nimr Baqir al-Nimr.
In June, Iran reopened its embassy in Riyadh after seven years of closure following the China-mediated agreement struck by Iran and Saudi Arabia in Beijing this year.
