Tropical Storm Hilary brought heavy rains that led to floods in Mexico and California, Ednews informs referring to Interfax.
Bad weather led to the cancellation of more than 1,000 flights in the US, in particular at San Diego Airport and Harry Reid Airport in Nevada. Nearly 5,000 more flights have been delayed.
The storm hit Mexico over the weekend. In the area of the cities of Ensenada and Tijuana, beaches are closed, temporary accommodation centers are open on the territory of sports complexes and government buildings.
At least one person has been hit by the storm in the Mexican city of Santa Rosalia. He died after a flood of water overturned his car.
The Mexican military with the help of bulldozers, cleared tons of debris resulting from the destruction. In many parts of the country, power lines were cut off, trees were knocked down.
The authorities of California and Nevada have previously declared a state of emergency in the states.
