Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi urged Japan on Tuesday to show its independence from the United States.
Speaking at a press conference, Raisi called on Tokyo to "act independently from the United States by releasing our blocked funds." Japan froze around $1.5 billion of Iran's assets.
"We have a good relationship with every country that wants to have a good relationship with Iran. We have a good relationship with Japan and we are eager to improve this relationship," Raisi insisted.
