The United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said on Thursday in a statement that it is "fully supportive" of Japan's plans related to the discharge of the treated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
"The UK Government would like to restate its full satisfaction with the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) monitoring and judgement that Japan’s release of treated water from the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear site is safe and consistent with internationally accepted nuclear safety standards," it was written in the statement.
Meanwhile, China protested over Japan's actions, insisting that the steps that have been taken are "extremely selfish and irresponsible."
