The United Nations said the number of fatalities in the floods in Libya is at least 3,958, with over 9,000 people missing. The latest figures have been verified by the World Health Organization.
Previously, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) claimed that the death toll in the city of Derna reached 11,300, citing data provided by the Libyan Red Crescent. However, the Red Crescent Society told CNN it did not provide OCHA with that number.
