British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak remarked on Wednesday during the Conservative Party's convention in Manchester that the AUKUS – the military deal between the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia – will "keep the world safe for decades to come."
Sunak noted that, under the Tories, the country's defense budget was increased to a "sustainable" level. He stressed that the UK was the first to send weapons to Ukraine and expressed London's firm support for the conflict-hit nation. Sunak went on to claim that the Labour Party is not trustworthy when it comes to national security and that it will seek to overturn Brexit.
Sunak underscored that, during his premiership, Britain made progress in his "five goals," which are to "halve inflation, grow the economy, reduce debt, cut waiting lists, and stop the boats." He added that he is in favor of tax cuts but that lowering inflation must be a priority.
