Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met on Monday with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing to strengthen their countries' bilateral cooperation and to discuss the current geopolitical situation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The officials stressed the need for the two countries to further develop their bilateral relations and work more closely in international organizations, such as the United Nations, G20, and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
The ministers also discussed the latest escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with Wang stressing that a two-state solution would be the best approach to achieving sustainable peace in this region of the Middle East, according to Chinese state media. In addition, the two addressed the Ukrainian crisis, stressing that the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv should be resolved through political and diplomatic means.
