British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak (pictured left) met on Thursday with Israeli President Isaac Herzog (right) after arriving in Tel Aviv earlier in the day. He reiterated that the United Kingdom stands with Israel and expressed confidence that the two countries will continue to "work closely together." He also met with families of hostages held by Hamas and vowed to work with partners to secure their release.
"Above all, I'm here to express my solidarity with the Israeli people. You have suffered an unspeakable, horrific act of terrorism," Sunak told reporters. He also said Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are "victims of what Hamas has done" and stressed the importance of providing "urgent" humanitarian access, including food, water and medicine.
