The United States, which conducted joint exercises in Syria with militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) banned in Türkiye, is losing Ankara as an ally, Ednews informs, citing the Turkish newspaper Milliyet.
“The US lost Türkiye. In public opinion, the United States has long become our main enemy. It is understood on the streets that Washington's plans for the region include the division of Türkiye. In the past, NATO was a guarantee for Türkiye, today Türkiye is a country that is a guarantee for NATO,” writes the newspaper.
The paper notes that sources in the Turkish National Defense Ministry responded on December 14 to the joint exercises of the PKK and the United States.
“To gain the support and trust of the Turkish people, the United States must first act like a true ally. And the way to do this is to stop doing mental gymnastics on the Türkiye map and stop collaborating with terrorist organizations... The US Ambassador (in Ankara) should also consider the possibility that Türkiye may one day stop acting like an ally,” the article said.
