Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny died of "sudden death syndrome," his mother and his lawyer were told by Russian authorities, according to Navalny's ally Ivan Zhdanov. Earlier today, Navalny's spokesperson Kira Yarmysh said an official investigation into Navalny's death did not find any wrongdoing.
Both Zhdanov and Yarmysh said Navalny's mother was not allowed to see his body and that it could be released next week. Navalny died in a maximum-security penal colony in the Arctic Circle at the age of 47.
