Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office disseminates info about arrest of Davit Babayan and Leva Mnatsakanyan

The General Prosecutor's Office released information about the arrest of Davit Babayan and Lyova Mnatsakanyan, the General Prosecutor's Office told this.

The investigation of the criminal case initiated by the bodies of the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan on the facts of military and other severe crimes against peace and humanity committed by members of the Armenian armed formations, as well as against captured military personnel of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and civilians and other persons, is ongoing.

The investigation established that Babayan Davit Klimovich, born in 1973 in Khankendi, in 2013-2023. worked as “deputy chief of staff of the president, assistant to the president for foreign policy, minister of foreign affairs, and assistant to the president for special issues” of the separatist structure during the 44-day war, as well as in anti-terrorist operations carried out to restore the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and ensure the safety of the population in the form of a criminal group, together with “leading officials” of the fictitious regime, he was engaged in activities that incited national enmity and hatred and coordinated the activities of terrorist groups.

Also on October 17, 2020, he organized the crimes of shelling unprotected territories of the city of Ganja, where the civilian population lived, settlements, deliberate killing and wounding with particular cruelty of numerous civilians in a hazardous way associated with terrorism, based on national enmity and hatred using ballistic missiles.

On October 29, 2020, Davit Babayan was brought as an accused person under articles 100.1, 100.2, 32.3, 114.1, 32.3, 116.0.1, 32.3, 116.0.6, 32.3, 116.0.7, 32.3, 116.0.8, 32.3, 116.0.9, 32.3, 116.0.10, 117.2, 32.3,214.2.1, 32.3,214.2.3, 32.3,214.2.4, 283.2.1, 283.2.3 and other articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, by a court decision in his respect was elected a preventive measure in the form of arrest. He was put on the international wanted list.

On September 29 of this year, D. Babayan was detained by law enforcement agencies in Azerbaijan, transferred to the investigation, and charged under these articles.
