Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov remarked on Wednesday that there are no conditions at the moment for Russia to engage in peace negotiations with Ukraine on ending its military operation there.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Peskov went on to dismiss such talks as "currently irrelevant" in Moscow's eyes. He also accused the United Kingdom of convincing Ukraine to pull out of the earlier attempt at negotiations in 2022. Additionally, Peskov rejected the idea of achieving a peaceful situation in Ukraine without Russia's participation as "absurd."
Earlier this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized the West for continuing to use Ukraine for what he described as a hybrid war against his country.
