"An American MQ-9 was shot down or crashed off a part of Yemen controlled by the Houthis in the Red Sea on Monday,"explained deputy Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh. Ednews reports citing La Tribune.
"Initial indications are that it was shot down by a Houthi surface-to-air missile", she added.
The rebels had claimed on Monday that they had shot down an American MQ-9 aircraft. That day, more attacks were reported in the region. In particular, the Houthis said they had targeted "a British ship in the Gulf of Aden, the Rubymar, with naval missiles".
