The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Tuesday that its forces killed Mohammed Mahasneh who was allegedly a commander of the Hamas military organization in charge of military equipment smuggling operations inside and outside of the Gaza Strip.
"Mahasneh was primarily involved in smuggling operations at sea, but also operated to smuggle equipment through tunnels and border crossings. His elimination significantly degrades the capabilities of the Hamas terrorist organization to smuggle equipment into the Gaza Strip." Moreover, the IDF said to have killed 20 allegedly Hamas members in the central Gaza Strip and 25 in the Rafah area.
In recent days, Israeli forces have stepped up attacks against Hamas, claiming the lives of what they say are key members of the organization. The Israeli Mossad was reported to have hired Iranian agents to plant bombs that killed Ismael Haniyeh.
