As of January 1, 2022, the direct foreign public debt of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the framework of loan agreements signed with various international financial institutions and foreign banks amounted to $ 7,393.4 million. USD or 13.5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for 2021, and conditional liabilities on state guarantees for foreign loans attracted by state-owned enterprises amounted to 742.3 mln. dollars or 1.4% of GDP, total external public debt amounted to 8,135.7 mln. USD (13,830.7 million manats) or 14.9% of GDP, Athe Ministry of Finance informs.
The external public debt in absolute terms amounted to $ 685.8 mln, while the ratio of foreign debt to GDP decreased by 5.8% by the end of 2021 compared to the beginning of 2021, considering the funds attracted during the last year, and fulfilled main debt obligations.
