"Taking into consideration of new challenges and demands, we conduct discussions with other gas consumers," said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the opening ceremony of the 27th International Caspian Oil and Gas "Caspian Oil & Gas" 2022 Exhibition, which is the greatest event in the energy sector of the Caspian region, within the framework of Baku Energy Week today, Ednews reports citing APA.
"I would like to thank the governments of Turkiye, Georgia, Bulgaria, Greece, Albania, and Italy which are the participant countries of the Southern Gas Corridor project, for their active cooperation. Taking into consideration of the new challenges and new requirements, of course, we are conducting discussions with other potential consumers. But, of course, our efforts alone will not be enough for this. In Europe, an investment must be made in the infrastructure, in the construction of new interconnectors in Europe, and of course, there must be agreements in the terms," said President.
The Head of state noted that everything possible will be done in order to strengthen the process and this has already started.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude to the governments of the US and Great Britain for their support of Azerbaijan's big energy projects.
'I would like also to thank the governments of the US and Great Britain which have always been great supporters of our energy policy and performance. We have achieved these results with their great support," said President Ilham Aliyev.
Azerbaijani President noted that international finance organizations also play an important role in funding the Southern Gas Corridor project.
'We can think about the expansion of TANAP. Because as I said, demand for Azerbaijani gas increases. Potential is here. Political will is here. That is why we must not lose the time," said President Ilham Aliyev.
