"First of all, I would like to say that there is no document called the Treaty of Lausanne for Turkiye. This is just disinformation created by the West on the Internet media." Political analyst, professor Husameddin Inac said these words in his quote to Ednews.
He especially touched on Turkiye's recent energy exploration in the seas, including the fact that Turkiye will become a leading centre in the European energy market in the region in the near future.
"Turkiye has recently discovered huge natural gas reserves in the Black Sea. However, in order not to attract too much attention, official Ankara has not disclosed this yet, but there are a number of international report documents that these reserves are worth trillions of dollars. Of course, since we are talking about the Black Sea, we cannot ignore the United States, Britain and a number of Western countries that are interested in that region, however are unable to intervene. In particular, Britain, which desperately wants to reach the Black Sea, and the issue of the Montreux Treaty signed in 1938, is extremely important in terms of ongoing processes in the sea. Because the rule of the Bosphorus is actually in the hands of Turkiye, and partly in the hands of Russia."
The expert added in his comments that Turkiye's energy research covers not only the Black Sea, but also the Aegean and Mediterranean seas.
"Actually, Turkiye does not have a problem in terms of the the energy exploration in the Aegean or the Mediterranean seas. For information, I would like to mention that Turkiye will soon declare the region of its borders, including some islands in those seas, as its economic zone. Even in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, 4 Turkish research vessels are conducting operations on energy resources.
Touching on the advantages that Turkiye will get in the future energy supply, the expert said that natural gas reserves in the Black Sea alone will provide the country 30 years from now. According to Husameddin Inac, the energy resources that Turkiye will acquire in the seas can even leave Russia behind in the energy market and turn it into the guarantor of Europe's energy security.
"Turkiye's natural gas extracted from both sources so far amounted to 700 bln cubic meters, through which it can meet Turkiye's 15-year gas needs. However, the natural gas fields that will be explored in the Black Sea from March are enough to guarantee Turkiye's 30-year or even long-term supply. It's just that these figures are shown with a slightly lower percentage in order not to attract the attention of other countries.
I would even add that Turkiye will have 50/100 of the oil and natural gas that will be explored both on land and at sea in Libya. In addition, Turkiye has a similar agreement with Algeria. This means that it is expected that Turkiye will become a central hub where natural energy will be shared with Europe in the near future."
