Azerbaijan demonstrates strong economic results, said UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva at the conference on "Towards 2030: Socio-Economic Inclusion in Azerbaijan" within the framework of the UN SDG Dialogues initiative, Ednews reports.
The UN Resident Coordinator stressed that building an inclusive society based on social justice in Azerbaijan was selected as one of the main priorities of the government.
The UN resident coordinator highlighted that Azerbaijan demonstrates strong economic results.
"GDP in this country increased 3.4 times, severe poverty was ended, unemployment was reduced from 50 percent (in 2001) to 5.5 percent. The strategies adopted by Azerbaijan should be emphasized. The adoption of a strategy related to COVID has reduced the effects of the pandemic in the country.
The UN in Azerbaijan is committed and ready to support the SDGs. There is progress and development, but there are also challenges and difficulties, and to overcome them we need to move forward in a spirit of cooperation. Innovative, progressive ideas should be presented," the diplomat said.
