This year, Azerbaijan will host the COP29 project. For this reason, a number of infrastructure projects were implemented in Baku.
So far, what measures have been taken in the city for the implementation of COP29 in Baku?
Professor of the Hungarian Institute of Foreign Relations and Trade, Laszlo Vasa, who made a statement to Ednews on the subject, said that this project will create new opportunities for Azerbaijan:
“The COP29 conference is a great opportunity for Azerbaijan to draw the attention of the international professional and academic community to the country. At the same time, the event is also an excellent opportunity to show the values of Azerbaijan and its capital, its society and economy. in this way, it is very important how the approx. 100,000 delegates visiting the country during the event will feel.
In the last 30 years, Baku has undergone amazing development, partly due to conscious, systematic planning and the development of the economy, partly due to the big events that have already been implemented. Based on my experiences, the infrastructure of Baku can be said to be developed, the basic infrastructure of tourism is well developed”.
Emphasizing what further work should be done in Azerbaijan to prepare for COP29, the expert noted that the Green Energy potential of Karabakh should be better represented to foreign countries:
“Large scale developments cannot be realized during the short period available, however, developments already in progress can be accelerated and, for example, in the case of transport, elements of flexibility can be improved, such as increasing the number of buses or shortening timetables, increasing frequencies. Establishing more direct flights to Baku is essential. In relation to accommodation, it will be an important task to ensure the standard of all hotels, but especially in the case of private accommodation providers. It is absolutely necessary to avoid delegates leaving the country with a bad taste in their mouths.
In the field of tourism, this event is a good chance to develop introduce new attractions. Also, showing the green industry developments or the smart settlements in Karabakh are evident opportunities”.
