oris Johnson has been given reassurances from Number 10 that he will not be sacked as Foreign Secretary if the Tories are re-elected, The Telegraph understands.
Two sources close to Mr Johnson have told this newspaper he was given indications he would be safe in any post-election reshuffle.
It is understood they were made at the start of the campaign at a time of intense speculation that Mr Johnson was being kept away from the cameras.
Allies of the Foreign Secretary said he became noticeably more relaxed about his political future after the conversation, believed to have taken place in late April or early May.
It is not known how the message was passed on. Mr Johnson’s spokesman declined to comment, saying he was entirely focussed on winning the election. (Telegraph)
