President Ilham Aliyev delivered a message to the participants of an international conference focused on Western Azerbaijan, held in Ankara, Türkiye.
According to EDnews the conference gathered experts, officials, and scholars to discuss the historical, cultural, and political aspects related to Western Azerbaijan- a term often used in Azerbaijan to refer to the historical Azerbaijani presence in modern-day Armenia.
In his address, President Aliyev likely highlighted the importance of preserving the historical memory of Azerbaijanis who once lived in that region, the need for justice and recognition, and Azerbaijan’s peaceful approach to raising awareness on the issue through diplomatic and legal means.
The event in Ankara demonstrates continued cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye on sensitive national and regional matters, and reflects Azerbaijan’s commitment to advocating for the rights of displaced Azerbaijanis within the framework of international law.
