Addressing the International Security Conference in West Asia in Tehran which was held at the Tehran National Defense University, General Mahmoud al-Shawa described Iran-Syria relations as firm, and said, 'Syria's cooperation and relations with Iran are not new, but relations with this country are rooted in the onset of the Islamic Revolution of Iran”.
The Syrian Defense Minister said there is a steady partnership between the two countries, and plans have been made to expand this cooperation.
General al-Shawa added, 'The cooperation of Tehran and Damascus is in political, social, economic and cultural arenas, and we hope that it will be expanded.'
The Syrian official said the US forces had entered Syria illegally, so there was no negotiation between 'our forces and the US forces', referring to the US withdraw of Syrian soil.
