Ukraine started the first round of the presidential elections with a record number of candidates. Thus, 39 candidates participate in the elections of March 31, 2019.
Eurasia Diary visited the election committee at the Ukrainian Embassy in Azerbaijan and got the information from the chairman of the Committee, Ilgar Hasanov, about the election process.
"The citizens of Ukraine are voting for their candidates through election committee at the embassy. 276 citizens have been registered and about 130 people have participated in the voting until 13:00," the chairman of the committee said.
For the participation in the electoral process, citizens should be approached and registered by the embassy untill March 25. Thus, the list of citizens participating in the voting is sent to The Central Election Commission of Ukraine and the ballot papers are sent to the number indicated on the list.
"It should be noted that citizens who are in Ukraine but will be in Azerbaijan during the election period may be registered in our country through The Central Election Commission of Ukraine," said Ilgar Hasanov.
The information stand for the rule of the election was hung at the entrance of the embassy. In addition, there is a great reference book about candidates.
"The elections are held in a completely transparent and calm atmosphere, without any problem or violation of law," the committee chairman said.
"Generally, elections in Azerbaijan continue in accordance with international standards, and favourable conditions have been organized for voters to vote for the embassy," Ilgar Hasanov concluded.
