The EU intends to continue to support Azerbaijan in its priority areas, among which an important one is demining the liberated territories, EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko said at a meeting with journalists on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, according to Ednews.
The European Union is one of Azerbaijan's largest partners in mine action, he said, adding that this is a long-term cooperation.
Michalko noted that the EU has been with Azerbaijan since the first years of independence, providing support in areas of importance to people, including in situations related to conflicts, such as supporting internally displaced persons, food security, improved housing conditions and increased economic cooperation.
Mihalko stressed that the European Union plans new steps that will lead to the announcement of new EU plans in support of Azerbaijan within the framework of the Team Europe action, Team Europe initiative and Team Europe as EU institutions and EU member states acting together in support of Azerbaijan.
