According to the data given by Security Assistance Monitor, The Trump Administration allocates around $101m security aid to Azerbaijan under the 333 section of the U.S. code 'Building partner capacity' in the 2018-2019 fiscal year. Besides U.S. also grants security and defence assistance for multiple military programs.
The data shows that the amount of aid in 2019 decreased almost by almost $16m comparing to 2018. To note that Armenia received almost $4 million security aid in total, whereas this amount was more than $59 million for Azerbaijan in 2018 fiscal year.
The purpose of this security aid is to conduct or support programs providing training and equipment to national security forces of foreign countries for the purpose of building capacity of Azerbaijan to conduct the following activities:
1) Maritime Security for the Caspian Sea: communications, electronics, construction, maritime interdiction equipment, and vehicles
2) Southern Border Security: communications, electronics, construction, maritime interdiction equipment, and vehicles
3) Human Rights Training
The data also indicates that the planned security assistance to Azerbaijan is $600,000 in the following year. This military aid will be allocated for the program named 'International Military Education and Training'.
