Azerbaijan has right to use its armed forces to take back its legally acknowledged territory British journalist

On September 27, Armenian armed forces in the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan launched provocative attacks against the positions of Azerbaijan army and the civilian settlements at the line of contact. According to local news, there are a number of casualties among residents. As a result of the attack by Armenian side, the family of five and two children were killed. However, the command of Azerbaijan army staff decided to launch the counter-offensive attacks of Azerbaijan armed forces along the entire line of contact in retaliation to the Armenian provocative attacks. Azerbaijani military units, with their manpower, armed vehicles and heavy artillery, have been carrying out successful operations to liberate lands from Armenian occupation in accordance with international law.

British journalist Neil Watson commented on Eurasia Diary portal on Armenian aggression.

Watson seriously condemned Armenian attacks against the positions of the Azerbaijan army and innocent civilians.

“Like anyone who believes in international law, human rights and territorial integrity, I wholeheartedly condemn the Armenian aggression that was demonstrated on Sunday morning, aimed at civilian targets,’ he said.

The British journalist stressed that Azerbaijan has steadfastly sought peace since the ceasefire was brokered in 1994.

“Azerbaijan has actively participated in the work of the OSCE Minsk Group, tasked with agreeing a negotiated peace, and repeatedly said that Nagorno-Karabakh should have a high level of autonomy within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Despite this, Armenia, supported by its Diaspora, Russia and Iran has belligerently continued to occupy Nagorno-Karabakh and the seven surrounding regions. It therefore has the perfect right to use its armed forces to take back its legally acknowledged territory,” he noted.

Watson also emphasized that Armenia has repeatedly demonstrated its disregard for international law and human life.

“The latest attack has wiped out an entire family of five, including two young children. It is a powderkeg, fuelled by Russia and Iran, and destabilizes the entire region. Furthermore, the violence has flared near significant energy pipelines,” Watson said.

“The international community should take action against Armenia immediately, as it has against other nations, and force them to withdraw from Azerbaijani territory,” he added.

It should be noted that Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict started in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of war, Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions.

Armenian regime still ignores four UN Security Council and two UN General Assembly resolutions that demand the complete, unconditional and immediate withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
