"Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov announced in Vienna a while ago that peace and security for the government, the role of women in these issues will be a priority. Wish of the Azerbaijani Government is to restore the liberated territories and return hundreds of thousand of people to their homelands," said the British Ambassador to Azerbaijan James Sharp today at a conference on "Women, Peace, and security: the role of women in post-conflict reconstruction" jointly organized by the Center for International Relations Analysis and the UN Office in Azerbaijan, APA reports.
The ambassador noted that reconstruction, returning and reforms are the long-term agenda: "Building the normal relations with Armenia, signing a peace agreement would serve to the lasting peace. Azerbaijani Government expresses its intention in this regard. The Government tries to return citizens to those lands in a short while. Reconstruction is carried out on time and in the right direction. Gender issues should not be forgotten. Of course, women also have certain responsibilities. If the reconstruction is carried out, it must be determined how women's needs are met. We make contributions to Azerbaijan in this direction. Women should participate in this in a safe form,"
