"The West is trying to intervene in the situation around Karabakh, strengthen its presence in the South Caucasus and discredit Russia's peacekeeping policy," Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at the meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member countries in Minsk today, EDnews reports.
"As for the situation in the Caucasus region, it is mostly determined by the level of resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. Currently, the security in Karabakh is ensured by the Russian Peacekeeping Contingent (RPC). However, the West is trying to intervene in the situation by all means, increase its presence and discredit Russia's peacekeeping policy," Shoigu said.
