Recently, a number of contacts made between Azerbaijan and Iran. During the talks between Foreign Ministers, detailed views were exchanged on the know situation between the two countries, said Aykhan Hajizada, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan as he responded to local media's question regarding the commnetary of Foreign Ministry Spokesperson of Iran Nasser Kanaani on June 12, Ednews reports.
"Regarding the issue of resuming the work of our embassy, which was suspended as a result of a terrorist attack in January of this year, let us note that Azerbaijan expects the investigation related to the terrorist attack to be completed. The perpetrators and those ordered commit the terrorist act should be brought to justice and punished in the most severe manner. The Azerbaijani side should be sure that there are conditions for the safe operation of the embassy, and full guarantees should be given in this regard," the MFA official noted.
Recall that on June 12, the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Nasser Kanani, while touching upon the relations with Azerbaijan, said that he believes that a positive result has been achieved regarding the control of tensions as a result of diplomatic measures. According to him, they are currently in the process of negotiations to transition from the tension stage to a new stage and to resume the official activities of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran. Kanani added that there is a need for dialogue and exchange of ideas to take new practical steps.
